Jar of Summer Thanks

Summer flowers, what could be better! I wanted to thank a friend for a wonderful gathering in her garden and thought this would be perfect. I used a jar image from Inkadinkado, then filled it with Papertrey Ink’s Delightful Dahlias, worked some Distress Inks around and through a stencil, then applied a black bow using American Crafts’ black twine. I found Tim Holtz’s watercolor paper to be the perfect material to use with his Distressed Inks, they blend so well with this paper. I used a water pen with the same inks for the medal of thanks. Wish I could find more of the bees you see here! I colored the pearls in the center of the flowers with Spectrum Noir alcohol pens for the first time, and it worked great! Another entry for Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Blog contest for their theme “Summer”!

    1. Thanks so much Mariclaudi, for your kind encouragement! I think the kinds of paper we use can make a big difference, my favorites are watercolor (for ease of blending) & Neenah (for great color). Again, thanks much for taking the time to comment, much appreciated!

  1. What an stunning card – the way you created the dappled shadow is amazing.

    1. Thank you, Caryn, for your gracious feedback! I used a stencil for the dappled shadow, one that I didn’t think I would use much before I tried it but I’m seeing it in a different light now, especially thanks to your reaction! Many thanks for making SSS Wed. Blog Contest so rewarding.

    1. Jane, thanks so much for taking the time to comment – much, much appreciated! I found the stencil I used in this card at JoAnn’s if you’re looking for a similar effect. Wishing you all the best!
